TAI CHI
TAI CHI
Darren is a kind, peaceful, gentle being with a passion for helping people he likes meditation and studying the internal arts including tai chi, qigong and healing.
TAI CHI
When I was younger I  studied Karate for 5 years but decided to leave when I  was asked into contact competition Karate and being a calm and gentle person decided this was not for me.
TAI CHI
When I was 23 I  had a car accident which changed my life.  Partially blinded in my right eye and suffered a head injury.
TAI CHI
After some soul searching and healing I decided to try out Tai Chi with a group called Wutan UK at the time I  had been suffering from back and neck problems along with problems with my kidneys.
TAI CHI
My first teacher was a lovely guy named Derek Kent who taught me many different Taiji forms and I remember the first class I ever had with him very clearly.
TAI
I felt like I was thrown in at the deep end because we started learning the Taiji Yang style in the middle of the form.
CHI
Yang Tai chi chuan was the very first style of Taiji I learned followed by the 108 movement Yang long form.
QIGONG
At first all we did was copy the movement of the teacher the emphasis  on relaxation and right posture. We would always do a warm up which would include different qigong movements to relax and loosen the body and some standing qigong postures.
QIGONG
Very early on I began to feel the heat and energy that would start when I moved my hands close together a bit like repelling magnets.
INTERNAL ARTS
I really liked the Yang style and it took me a little over 6 months to learn the Yang style 48 form, I made sure that I practised each day and I had a few people that would practice with me.
TAI
To me it really made a difference others that would practice along with me became my friends and before long Derek would stay after classes and do more and more training with me.
CHI
We learned 42 step competition forms, 42 competition sword the Yang long 108 movement form and then my favourite of all the styles Sun Style which was devised by a Bagua and Xinyi Master Sun Lutang.
MINDFULNESS
We practiced Bagua another internal martial art and Xinyi Quan over a 8 year period we learned a lot from Derek and by 2004 I was going down to Southampton to take part in the Tai chi Instructor training with Derek.
MINDFULNESS
We had been to many seminars and my knowledge of tai chi and the other internal styles was growing rapidly. In 2004 on a cold January evening whilst practicing a low posture in the Yang form I felt a twinge in my shoulder at least that’s what I thought it was.
For a week I endured extreme pain before finally giving in and after a visit to my doctor was rushed to the MAU at the royal surrey and diagnosed with a partially collapsed lung.
  • MINDFULNESS
I all but ended my every day practice and very shortly after my first operation was unable to do much practice.
TAI CHI
in 2005 I went to a mind, body and spirit show and signed up to start learning Reiki a natural healing art that was introduced to me by a long standing friend of mine called Jackie.
TAI CHI
So my life took a different direction as I began on my Reiki path I had a lot of time on my hands. I had no idea it would take me over 4 years to fully recover from my operations.
TAI CHI
It took me a few years of constant practice to become a Reiki Master when you have all day every day to channel energy and to work on yourself to become immersed in what you are studying it takes nothing but dedication, perseverance and dedication.
QI
I had to live and breathe Reiki for close to 4 years and in that time I learned how to tune into energy and more about my body that I ever imagined I could.
QI
I have had more time than the average person to study natural energy medicine so I know my stuff.
HEALING
I also trained in Angelic Reiki, Terra Mai Seichem Reiki but that was more recently in 2010.
REIKI
After I recovered I lost a dear friend of mine who used to train with me and that was my last time at Wutan UK.
TAI CHI
I carried on my training usually training in Stoke Park in Guildford in all kinds of weather. I am very serious about my training…
TAI CHI
I practice for close to 4 hours each day I can be found at the bandstand in Godalming training with my teacher James Langcake who has taught me along with Master Wang Hai Jun in the art of Chen style Tai Chi for over the last 4 years.
James saw my potential for learning and teaching and I went from one class with James to every day practice it has been a very long journey and tai chi is a commitment to yourself it is hard but you get so many benefits from it your health will improve.
TAI CHI
Tai Chi has helped me immeasurably it has given me so much and has become a way of life for me. I have dedicated my life to it.
HEALING
The study into energy has been enforced by the qigong and tai chi practice it really has made a difference to my abilities as a healing practitioner and healer in general.
MASTER HEALER
It has increased my sensitivity to very high levels I can feel when someone has pain in their body I can move my hands over the body and feel where it originates or emanates from.

REIKI MASTER
I think it would be harder for me had I not had all of my tai chi and qigong training to be a good healer.
REIKI
We are in so much hurry to do things these days that we forget to relax and slow down tai chi helps to do this at its deepest level it is a martial art “par excellence” with a firm footing in ancient Chinese traditional martial arts the linage in the Chen family has never been broken.
HEALTH
At this current stage in my life I have over 15 years of experience in tai chi and qigong. I like to read and study all aspects of Chinese Internal arts including the qi healing side and this is really what I would call myself a qi healer, spiritual healer, spiritual teacher and tai chi practitioner.
TAI CHI
I recently did 22 hours with Master Ou Hai Bing in Zhuzhou in China learning more Qigong Hunyuan 12 movements and the Hunyuan 24 Taiji Qigong as well as Laojia Yi Lu corrections
TAI
Anyone can do what I do it just takes time, we are all special, all divine, all unique and all capable of amazing things,
we have been given these arts to preserve to be able to pass them onto our children and to make a difference to ourselves.
CHI
The teachings in these arts are profound and deep for those that wish to go that far it will be a study that lasts a lifetime.
HEALING
In Reiki you are just simply a channel for universal energy which is available to us all
HEALTH
Taiji and Qigong are quite possibly the most unique of all the arts but few here in the West realize the potential these arts have to really make a difference to our life.
MINDFULNESS
The Chinese however have mapped out the underlying human energy system and here you have so much that works to make you healthier on your journey
TAI CHI
So begin your journey, don’t be someone who never starts.
